Dr. Kucukkal is a computational chemist with a passion for teaching STEM courses. He has experience in academic mentoring of middle and high school students as well as 10+ years of teaching at K-12 and higher education settings with excellent Praxis scores in math and chemistry. Dr. Kucukkal has a Ph.D. in computational chemistry from Clemson University and also teaches chemistry at Northern VA Community College. His research interests include quantum mechanical simulations of carbon nanotubes, medicinal seed oil chemicals and other applications. Dr. Kucukkal oversees the camp and makerspace programs at IRES. He is excellent at helping students realize their potential for "making".

Ms. Hanson has an excellent background in communications and education research. To IRES, she brings robust experience in English instruction, editing, and proposal writing. She helps developing the English tutoring curriculum, and oversees storytelling and journal clubs in our after school programs. She holds an MS degree in Applied Sociology from Clemson University . Her research and extra-professional interests include the impact of cross-cultural interactions, and promoting intercultural understanding.

Mert has a passion for STEM. He taught game design and several maker lab activities last year in Camp Dream & Discover. He also led a rocketry team last Fall and this Spring. Mert is helping developing robotics, maker lab, coding and game design activities for Camp Dream & Discover.

Mr. Bahar is an accomplished engineer with excellent AP science and math background. He is great with children and youth and has a lot of positive feedback from parents. Particularly interested in teaching math and coding or computer science with innovative ways. Mr. Bahar holds MS degree in mechanical engineering and completed doctoral coursework in materials science at Clemson University. He is the tutoring director here at IRES overseeing tutoring programs K-12 and more. He also teaches SAT prep and AP classes at IRES. He along with Dr. Kucukkal, Mr. Bahar has excellent scores in SAT, AP Math, chemistry and physics.

Ms. Beren is a traditional water marbling artist. She provides tutoring and holds workshops for IRES with special training sessions for Camp Dream & Discover students in summers. Ms. Beren is a member of the Fairfax Art League. Her artworks are exhibited at the Fairfax Art League and SR/A Interior Design in Bethesda. Semih is excited to join IRES this summer as an art counselor. Art is his passion. Along with his talent, he is formally trained in various forms of art. He has won first place in Fairfax County art competition. He helps developing new art activities for Camp Dream & Discover.

Dr. Kucukkal is a computational chemist with a passion for research, learning and teaching. Dr. Kucukkal is a professor at Gallaudet University and helps IRES with curriculum design and education research. Her research interests include simulations of rare genetic disorders and game-based learning in higher education. She also leads an American Sign Language (ASL) club in Northern VA and volunteers for Quest Student Research Institute.
